PIZZA

A local restaurant chain has opened a new Italian themed location. Being the newest restaurant in the franchise, this location will take on a new brand styles that will influence  other locations in the chain.

After working with the client on a logo for the new location, they’ve shown interest in flat and vibrant depictions of sliced pies. The serif font in use is pulled from past logos, as are some of the colors used. The chain includes other restaurants with diverse menus and atmospheres, so it was important to create a style that could apply to a variety themes without becoming diluted.

The final logo has several variants for different use cases, and so far has been adapted for signage and coasters. The restaurant does not currently use custom pizza boxes, however it is something the management is considering for the future.

BALLS

While on site for an education branding project in the Bronx, I was approached by a teacher who was looking to start a basketball league in his district. The project involved creating logos for teams of students in the 4th to 8th grade range.

Working with the teacher in charge, we were able to settle on a consistent visual style to use between all of the teams. After completing the design work, I also helped connect the organizers with vendors to print the necessary shirts and signage.

The district’s goal is to implement the first basketball season in the 2020 Spring Semester, with orders for the necessary materials going out in early 2020.

LODGE

For 6 months I was the Lead Designer working on brand identity for Scribner’s Catskill Lodge in Upstate New York. Working with the Brand Director, we collaborated to create event-specific marketing collateral, daily use materials such as menus and maps, and several marketing decks intended to elevate the SCL brand.

This brand partnership deck was used to attract various brands to work in tandem with SCL to create limited edition product variants and promote interbrand experiences. Using this deck, SCL teamed up with ski destinations in the Catskill Region and offered combo deals for weekend getaways. They were also able to partner up with popular outdoor brands to release special editions of boots and other hiking gear.

AIGA

On occasion I’ve worked with the Upstate NY chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design. I designed the branding for their Business of Design seminar series.  The series was hosted by Emily Cohen, author of Brutally Honest, and was directed toward mid and high level designers looking to grow professionally.

I worked with the chapter’s President to create dynamic imagery that could easily adapt to multiple form-factors. The project involved deep research and understanding of the existing AIGA brand, and was consequently an invaluable learning experience.
