JENA
Jena Kingsley is a up and coming comedian based in NYC. I worked with Jena
to update her online presence leading up to the launch of her new podcast.
Jena’s father was a lesser known magician who worked with the likes of Houdini. This heritage informed the playful style of the illustrations featured in each header, and the black and cognac color scheme was inspired by the style of playing cards traditionally used in magic tricks.
I functioned as the Visual Designer on this project, working with a handful of developers and an art director. For most pages, I created each individual piece of content and applied custom HTML/CSS to achieve the desired outcome.
In addition to updating Jena’s brand, the new site is also far more modernized and streamlined compared to its older counterpart. The new version of the site is fully responsive, quick, and features a custom podcast player that works across all platforms.
FRAME
ILevel is one of New York City’s leading picture framing service. While they don’t use any e-commerce, their site is an essential part of their business. Unfortunately, its past iterations were slow, unresponsive, and unintuitive.
I was on a small team responsible for the recent remodel of Ilevel’s site. My responsibilities included creating a custom template that kept all of the pages concise and on brand with ILevel’s tight visuals, and ensuring that all existing content transferred smoothly into the new design. ILevel’s blog backlog included almost 400 posts, including press coverage, events, client profiles and more. In the previous format, each post had inconsistent typography, grammar styles, and visuals which had to be unified to fit the new structures.
In addition to the nearly 10 year backlog, the site’s owners and contributors are continuing to add content. Through the new systems they’re able to match the existing typographic styles effortlessly and keep the postings consistent. With the new site active, they ILevel staff can continue to commit to their thriving business.
WORTH
Avalon Net Worth is a boutique investment bank located in the core of Manhattan. This was my first time working for a company with such a professional aesthetic. The goal when updating Avalon’s site was to adapt it to the modern web while maintaining their strong Wall Street inspired brand.
For this project I worked on a small team, and was responsible for all page layouts, photo selections, and the general visuals of the site. Additionally, I was the main point of contact for Avalon. Working directly with a representative from the company, I addressed thier needs and concerns in real time, as they checked in on the site in progress.
The site features several blogs, each of which contains tagged posts that get featured on other pages. Because Avalon doesn’t have anyone on staff to work with the website, these systems had to be streamlined and simplified through templates and tutorials that would allow their existing staff to keep the site up to date. This goal was ultimately a success, as the materials supplied to Avalon have allowed them to keep the site consistent and current with no intervention on our end.
